The Inspiring World of Composite Photographer, Adrian Sommeling
When I ran across Composite Photographer, Adrian Sommeling, I felt like I ran across a kindred spirit.
You know, someone who sort of saw the world the way I see it.
I’m super stoked to be sharing the inspiring world of one of my favorite Composite Photographers, Adrian Sommeling.
As a Composite Photographer applying my craft to Portrait Photography, I frequently feel like I’m on an island all by myself, so it’s refreshing for me to see Photographers like Adrian who view the world from a similar perspective.
Ok, enough of the fluffy stuff, let’s check out some amazing Composites.

Also, check out his website at http://www.adriansommeling.com.
From the Netherlands, Adrian is a Photographer, Digital Artist, Graphic Designer, and Web Developer who makes his living in the advertising industry.
Like much of my Personal Portrait Projects, Adrian frequently uses his son as the main character to explore his own past and future stories.
Adrian also gives workshops all around the world on how he creates such amazing images, and I highly recommend you check out his Video Tutorials.
Adrian’s Inspiring Composite Work
One of Adrian’s most recent Composites absolutely blew me away, and to date stands as my favorite Composite he’s created.
This image, admittedly, makes me jealous (why didn’t I create it?).
All of Adrian’s Composites are well executed, but this one is hands down the best I’ve seen him do.
I’ve been planning a Composite with the Dallas Zoo, and this image has definitely inspired me to bump that up on my to-do list. Thanks Adrian…
This Composite, in fact, inspired me to purchase Adrian’s video tutorial on how he created it, which I will review in a later post.
One of the things I love about Composite Photography is how you can emphasize foreground elements, giving your images more depth.
Depth and dimension can be emphasized by simply adding a foreground element.
This image of the boys throwing rocks at empty cans is a great example of how Adrian gives his Composites the depth that makes them stand out.
Adrian, unlike myself, has many more samples of himself as a character within his Composites.
While I don’t know Adrian personally, word has it he really likes the way he looks. (I’m kidding, geez)
Anyway, here’s another great example of use of foreground with his leg extending to the foot of the bed, and the book flying out of his hands.
Note: When looking through Adrian Sommeling’s work, pay close attention to light and shadows. This guy is a Rock Star at both.
That’s a Wrap
Quite honestly, I could go on-and-on about Adrian and his Composite Photography, but I think it’s better to let you discover more on your own.
Adrian has been one of my biggest inspirations, and because of the images you’ve seen in this post, pushes me to become a better Composite Photographer.
