Can You do Kids Portraits?

At first glance, you would believe I only do Conceptual Photography that requires several images and loads of editing, but I have more to offer than fun Signature Family Portraits.

So, today I’m going to answer the question, “Can you do Kids Portraits?”

In my opinion, kids are some of the best people for portraits, because they are free from the things we adults commonly worry about.

Rarely do you come across a kid that doesn’t want their picture taken.

So, to answer the question about doing Kid Portraits, the answer is, ABSOLUTELY I do Kids Portraits!

A Moment Captured

While doing the photography for a Family Portrait I was commissioned to create, I captured a great moment.

Taking that great moment, I sprinkled a little Photillustrator dust on it, and created a great Kids Portrait.

As a Portrait Photographer, I strive to capture these real moments when simple purity comes out.

They’re rare, but we all have them.

Why Kids are so Awesome

Every time I raise my camera to snap a photo of my wife, regardless of whether it’s professionally, or with the camera on my phone, she throws her hands up and blocks the shot.

Apparently, she doesn’t like the way she looks in photos.

To this day, I’ve yet to come across a kid who doesn’t like their picture taken, or worries about the way they look in a portrait.

My kids are always begging me to take their pictures, and Emily, the little girl in the portrait above, hammed it up for my camera.

If I take a bad picture of my boys, and I’ve taken many with their eyes closed or with a goofy look on their faces, they LOVE IT, and laugh.

While us adults worry about our hair, what we’re wearing, our complexion, or the wrinkles on our faces, kids don’t care.

And that’s why Kids Portraits are so awesome for me.

How do you Get a Kids Portrait?
